Research Assistant in Open and Reproducible Research (w/m/d)

We are looking for a pre-doc candidate with good qualitative and/or quantitative skills in data collection, data analysis, and/or qualitative methods to work in a range of European Commission projects related to Open Science and the reproducibility of research. Initially, the candidate will work in projects to design and develop workflows and policies for Open Science, as well as studying Open Science platforms, tools and methods. The opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. in the candidate’s chosen discipline will be supported.

You will work in the interdisciplinary Open and Reproducible Research Group led by Dr. Tony Ross-Hellauer, which uses evidence-based approaches to make research cultures more open, transparent and participatory through new practices and technologies (https://orrg.eu).

Your tasks:

  • Assist in research related to design/development/assessment of new tools and methods for Open Science
  • Assist in writing project reports and scholarly publications
  • Contribute to Open Science networks and initiatives
  • Support general project administration

Your qualifications:

  • Completed Bachelor or Master’s study in Computer Science, Information Science, Sociology, Psychologyor any related discipline
  • Experience (including data collection/analysis) of either data science (e.g., R or Python) or qualitative research methods (e.g., focus groups, interviews)
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of German is a plus
  • Experience working in collaborative research projects is desirable
  • Interest in Open Science and reproducibility is desirable

We are required by law to specify the minimum gross salary according to the collective agreement, which is for the full-time position with at least three years working experience a minimum of 3.190,- EUR gross per month (14 times per year). Depending on qualifications and experience we are willing to pay a higher salary in line with the market.
