The Knowledge Visualization Team is successfully present at the 13th International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC) with 2 accepted papers from October 21-23, 2014 in Trentino/ Italy.

ISWC 2014 is the premier international forum for the Semantic Web/ Linked Data Community. Here, scientists, industry specialists, and practitioners meet to discuss the future of practical, scalable, user-friendly, and game changing solutions.

Vedran Sabol and Gerwald Tschinkel (Know-Center “Knowledge Visualization Team”) will present the full paper Discovery and Visual Analysis of Linked Data for Humans resp.the demo/short paper Using Semantics for Interactive Visual Analysis of Linked Open Data at the ISWC. Both papers describe results from the EU project CODE. Discovery and Visual Analysis of Linked Data for Humans deals with the problem thatLinked Open Data Cloud has grown to become one of the largest available knowledge bases but unfortunately, this wealth of data remains inaccessible to those without in-depth knowledge of semantic technologies. The paper describes a toolchain enabling users without semantic technology background to explore and visually analyze Linked Data. Using Semantics for Interactive Visual Analysis of Linked Open Data deals withthe use of semantic information to improve and simplify the visualization of linked data. The paper demonstrates the use of semantics for: mapping data onto visualization, performing aggregation operations (e.g. sum, average etc.) and, most importantly, for interactive visual analysis using coordinated brushing and linking methods.
