The vision of the MOVING project is to develop an innovative training platform that enables people from all societal sectors (companies, universities, public administration) to fundamentally improve their information literacy by training how to use, choose, reflect and evaluate data/text mining methods in connection with their daily research tasks. We believe that an extensive distribution of this type of information literacy education in the sense of a data-savvy information professional will have a decisive impact on the innovative capacity of the European society.
The Know-Center will contribute with two of its main fields of expertise: The Ubiquitous Personal Computing group headed by Ass-Prof. Dr. Viktoria Pammer-Schindler will develop computer support for learning data analytics, following up on research carried out in other EU projects, most specifically following up on work on reflection guidance developed within FP7 MIRROR.
The Knowledge Visualisation group headed by Dr. Vedran Sabol will develop visual analytics functionalities with an emphasis on recommending visualisations based on data characteristics, following up on research carried out within FP7 CODE, and responsivity and suitability to small screens (as used in smartphones), most specifically following up on research carried out within FP7 EEXCESS.
The MOVING Kick-Off meeting took place on April 13th and 14th, in Thessaloniki, Greece, on CERTH’s premises in Thessaloniki, Greece. It was full of collaborative spirit, new ideas resulting in a rich list of action points for all members of the consortium.
We are looking forward to a very innovative, exciting and challenging new EU project!
