Fortissimo Plus (FFplus) is a European initiative funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (2024–2028). It helps SMEs and start-ups explore the potential of High-Performance Computing (HPC) to solve real business challenges, develop new products and improve processes, including through generative AI. You don’t need prior experience with HPC or AI to get started. The programme is designed to help businesses take their first steps and discover where these technologies can deliver value.
In its first two rounds, FFplus funded 40 business experiments involving 59 SMEs and numerous supporting organisations across 15 countries.
What is the call about?
The third FFplus open call for business experiments opens in early November 2026. It offers SMEs and start-ups the opportunity to tackle a specific business challenge with the support of HPC and advanced digital technologies, even if they have never used a supercomputer or worked with AI before.
Potential projects range from modelling and simulation to data analytics, machine learning and generative AI. Each selected project can receive up to €200,000 in funding, with a maximum of €100,000 per partner, covering all eligible direct costs. Participants also benefit from technical advice, guidance on accessing EuroHPC resources and support in showcasing their results.
Who can apply?
The call is open to SMEs and start-ups based in EU member states, EEA countries and eligible associated countries. Projects can involve up to five partners, including the main applicant and supporting organisations.
Companies in the mobility sector, including automotive, aerospace and rail, may find the call particularly relevant. Potential applications include simulation, predictive maintenance and data analytics. The key starting point is a business challenge where HPC could make a difference, rather than existing experience with the technology.
