Viel Lob fanden drei internationale Gutachterteams für den wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt der beiden EU Großprojekte APOSDLE (http://www.aposdle.org) und MATURE (http://www.mature-ip.eu) sowie des Österreich-geförderten RAVEN Projektes (http://www.modul.ac.at/nmt/raven).
Teams of internationally renowned reviewers applauded the scientific progress of the two large-scale European research initiatives APOSDLE (http://www.aposdle.org) and MATURE (http://www.mature-ip.eu), as well as of the Austrian funded RAVEN project (http://www.modul.ac.at/nmt/raven).
Two projects, APOSDLE and MATURE, are funded through the ICT research programme of the European Union. The third project, RAVEN, is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
APOSDLE is funded under the 6th framework programme and underwent the third year review. A special focus of the review meeting was the presentation of the third APOSDLE prototype in which major development effort was spent to realize a prototype of a work-integrated learning system. Reviewers were impressed by the current stage of development and by the innovative functionalities. APOSDLE is now entering its final year where major evaluation activities will be taking place in four real-world application settings starting this summer.

MATURE is funded under the 7th framework programme and has just finished its first project year. Reviewers positively noted the design-based research strategy of the project where several small-scale design studies were conducted to better understand processes and requirements of the maturing of knowledge in organisational contexts. The team was very happy to hear that MATURE had „exceeded expectations“, and is now entering a phase of more intensive developments to produce an integrated system prototype after year 2.
MATURE is coordinated by the Research Center for Information Technologies in Karlsruhe. RAVEN is a two-year research project coordinated by the Department of New Media Technology of MODUL University Vienna. Know-Center is a member of the project consortium and leader of the visualization work package. The goal of the project, which is currently in its second year, is to keep users up-to-date about unfolding events in endogeneous and exogeneous information spaces, and to provide methods and visual tools supporting investigation of temporal-semantic relationships and sentiment analysis in these spaces. Project review on 9.6.2009 provided confirmed the successful accomplishments in all aforementioned research objectives. In its final quarter the project will focus on completion of method development and tuning, which will be followed by evaluation, dissemination and exploitation activities. Zwei Projekte, APOSDLE und MATURE, werden im Rahmen des ICT Forschungsprogramms der Europäischen Union gefördert. Das dritte Projekt, RAVEN, wird von der Österreichischen Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH (FFG) gefördert.

Das besondere Highlight des Reviews war die Demonstration des dritten APOSDLE Prototypen, eines Systems zum arbeitsintegrierten Lernen, in das im vergangenen Jahr beachtliche Entwicklungsleistungen geflossen sind. Die Gutachter zeigten sich beeindruckt vom Funktionsumfang und den vielen innovativen Funktionalitäten. Für APOSDLE geht es nun in eine intensive Phase, in der das System in vier unterschiedlichen Anwendungskontexten in realistischen Arbeitssettings evaluiert wird.

MATURE wird im 7. Rahmenprogramm gefördert und hat vor Kurzem das erste Projektjahr abgeschlossen. Die Gutachter hoben insbesondere die innovative Vorgehensweise des Projekts hervor, im Rahmen derer mehrere Design Studien zum besseren Verständnis des Wissensreifungsprozesses im organisationalen Kontext und der weiteren Anforderungen geführt haben. Das Team war sehr erfreut darüber „die Anforderungen an das Projekt übertroffen“ zu haben und beginnt nun mit einer intensiven Entwicklungsphase zur Realisierung eines ersten integrierten Prototypen.

RAVEN ist ein Forschungsprojekt mit zweijähriger Laufzeit, das vom Department of New Media Technology von MODUL University Vienna koordiniert wird. Know-Center ist Mitglied des Projektkonsortiums und Leiter des Visualisierungsarbeitspakets. Ziel des Projektes, das sich gerade im zweiten Jahr befindet, ist es die Benutzer über die laufende Ereignisse in endogenen und exogenen Informationsräumen auf dem neustem Stand zu halten sowie Methoden und visuelle Werkzeige bereitzustellen, die die Erforschung von temporal-semantischen Relationen und Sentiment-Analyse ermöglichen. Das Projektreview am 9.6.2009 hat bestätigt, dass das Projekt alle Forschungsziele erfolgreich erreicht hat. Fokus im abschließenden Quartal liegt auf der Fertigstellung und Feinabstimmung von Verarbeitungsmethoden, die von Evaluierungs-, Dissemination- und Verwertungsaktivitäten gefolgt werden.
