Die CHI Konferenz (ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems) zählt als A-Ranking Konferenz zu den renommiertesten, internationalen Konferenzen im Themenbereich Mensch-Computer-Interaktion (Human Computer Interaction, kurz HCI).The “Surprise, Surprise: Activity Log Based Time Analytics for Time Management” paper by the Know Center, which is a work-in-progress, was accepted at the CHI 2013 Conference in Paris (29th April to 2nd May 2013). This top ranking conference counts among the most prestigious conferences in the field of human-computer interaction.
Das Know-Center wird mit dem Work-In-Progress Paper „Surprise, Surprise: Activity Log Based Time Analytics for Time Management“ bei der CHI 2013 in Paris (29. April – 02.Mai 2013) vertreten.
Dr. Viktoria Pammer-Schindler und Mag. Marina Bratic haben sich in diesem Paper mit der Frage beschäftigt, ob die automatische und manuelle Zeiterfassung dabei helfen kann, das eigene Zeitmanagement zu bewerten und zu verbessern.
Die KnowSelf App, vom Know-Center Graz entwickelte Applikation, bietet eine „IST-Analyse“, wie man die eigene Zeit bei der Arbeit verbringt. In der App werden die Tasks (und deren bearbeitete Ressourcen) als eine Abfolge von farblich gekennzeichneten Blöcken dargestellt. Je öfter zwischen einzelnen Tasks oder Ressourcen gewechselt wird, desto durchmischter (fragmentierter) werden Folgen von Blöcken angezeigt.
Die Kenntnis, wie man arbeitet und wie hoch die Fragmentierung der eigenen Arbeitszeit ist, kann als Ausgangspunkt für Zeitmanagement und Selbstorganisation dienen.

The KnowSelf App, developed at the Know Center, provides an “AS IS ANALYSIS” of how users spend their time at work. Individual tasks and their resources are visualised in the app as a sequence of coloured resource blocks. The more often you switch between single tasks or resources the more mixed these blocks are and their fragmentation is visualized in a very intuitive way.
The awareness of how we work and how high the level of fragmentation of our personal working time is can serve as a starting point for personal time management and self-organization.
